Being an environmentally responsible Alberta builder and community developer has always been part of who we are at Brookfield Residential. It’s built into our mindset. It’s reflected in our actions. It has long been central to our efforts to create
the best places to call home, and live up to our promise as the thoughtful builder.

Meaningful Change – Measurable Progress.

All members and divisions of Brookfield Residential across the province share in a common objective: to
build and develop sustainable homes and communities that are created for life, designed for today and aligned with tomorrow.

Through every action and advancement, no matter how incremental, we are intentional in our efforts to make a meaningful impact. We’ve always believed it is the right thing to do, as humble advocates for sustainable practices. This is our Sustainability Mission.

Why It Matters

Developing land and building homes is a great responsibility: one that we do not shoulder alone. Brookfield is proud to be among a group of leading Alberta homebuilders who are proactively and thoughtfully implementing new technologies and best practices to minimize our impacts. We’re learning from each other every day and continue to push forward together.

The best part?

Our homebuyers have embraced these efforts. They see the benefits of energy efficiency on their utility bills. They take pride in the knowledge that they are reducing their carbon footprint. And they genuinely care about living in communities that are raising the bar in new and exciting ways.

Brookfield is proud to partner with veritree, a leading platform dedicated to working with sustainability-minded businesses to support forest restoration and urban greening initiatives.

veritree combines on-the-ground expertise with cutting-edge technology to ensure every tree planted is verified and delivers measurable impact — from cleaner air and carbon capture to healthier ecosystems and stronger local communities.

Together, we’re making restoration part of everyday action. Our partnership is proof that sustainability can be both transparent and inspiring.

Fort McMurray Wildfire Restoration

Through veritree, Brookfield is helping to replant the Sawle Lake region forest, which was devastated by the Fort McMurray wildfire in 2016. This fire burned over 590,000 hectares of land.

2025 Target – 13,600 Trees

10,000 trees will be provided through Brookfield Calgary and Edmonton operations.

An additional 3,600 seedlings will be planted to honour each of the new homeowners moving into the Calgary community of Seton Ridge.

Continous Improvement

Brookfield Residential completed our first home in Alberta in 1958. The world has changed significantly since those early days. The populations of the Calgary and Edmonton metropolitan areas have grown past 1.5 million people. The way we build homes has changed, as has our mindset around how they are built.

What seemed impossible 10 years ago is becoming standard practice today. By persistently seeking new and better ways to build and develop, we are laying the foundation for a better future by continuously improving and evolving our green building and development practices.
